Our award-winning drama program kicked off its 2013–14 season with its second annual 24-Hour Play Festival. The event began at 7 pm on a Saturday night in November, when groups of playwrights, directors, and actors were divided into teams and given a prompt word or phrase connected to current events. Then they were off and running! During the next 24 hours, team members wrote six short plays, learned the lines, rehearsed, and ran a tech rehearsal. And at 7 pm Sunday— Curtain up, dim the lights, there’s nothing to hit but the heights! The teams played to a full and boisterous house—and the adjudicated plays received cash prizes for best writing and directing.
