A daily spiritual thought | Thursday April 9, 2020
As the corona virus spreads not only in countries and regions far away across the Atlantic but also here at home in the US, the discerning observer recognizes that in the wake of the spreading of the Covid 19 pandemic, an emotional pandemic is following in lockstep: especially doctors and psychiatrists are reporting the spread of angst, worries, and despair. The question about the future, especially the economic future raises huge concerns. Will I survive?
This morning I read the following in Romans 8:
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The corona virus has limitations: it cannot separate us from the love of God! No matter what the virus does to ourselves to our family, to our faith community, to our co-workers, to our town and country – it cannot separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This is a comforting thought – maybe we need to reassure ourselves of this fact:
- The virus is not stronger than Emmanuel (God with us) who has conquered death!
- The virus is not higher, nor deeper, nor stronger!
- The virus will not be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!
Friend,
I pray that you experience God’s grace and love today!
