Starting college comes with many changes, and some of these can affect our mental health. It might seem like you have to deal with your problems on your own now that you are an adult and away from home, but La Sierra is here to support you in every way—including your mental health.

Friends are a great resource, but it can be difficult transitioning to college life if you don’t know anyone on campus yet. Fortunately, you are not alone even if you think you are.

Student Wellness Services is an excellent place if you find yourself struggling during your time at La Sierra and want to seek professional help. Counseling services are available to all enrolled students for no additional cost. Simply call or stop by to make an appointment to meet with one of the clinical therapists. Your privacy is always taken seriously, so there is no need to be concerned about what you share. With a location just across the street from campus, you don’t have to be embarrassed about seeking help with all of campus knowing. The services offered include individual, group, and couples counseling sessions to address emotional and personal issues.

If you don’t feel like you want to seek professional help, the Chaplain’s Office always has its door opens for students to drop in. The university chaplains are available for students who need someone to talk to. Whether you need spiritual advice or simply someone to have a conversation with, the chaplains are happy to sit down with you to listen and advise. No matter what you are facing in your personal life or academic career, someone is ready and willing to help you.
